Narcos is a brand new crime drama series from the house of Netflix. Based on the exploits of Pablo Escobar, the show offers a revealing peek into the life of the notorious Colombian drug lord. The first season of Narcos (comprising of 10 episodes) was made available for streaming in late August while a second season (scheduled for 2016) was announced just a week after that.

What To Expect From Narcos?

Narcos is a fast paced and violent story of how Pablo Escobar (played by Wagner Moura) managed to create his drug empire. Chronicled through the eyes of the DEA Agent Steve Murphy (played by Boyd Holbrook), the series shows how Escobar used every trick in the book to silence his opponents and become one of the wealthiest and most feared drug lords of all time. Moura is brilliant as Escobar (the actor reportedly traveled to Colombia to understand the local culture) while the story is interesting enough to keep the viewers glued to their screens.

How To Watch Narcos?

Narcos is available on Netflix.

The above link doesn’t work outside United States since Netflix has decided to make Narcos available exclusively only to American subscribers. If you click on the above link from a non-US location (and conversely with a non-US IP address), you’ll see the following message instead of the show’s episodes:

“Sorry,-Netflix-is-not-available-in-your-country-yet”

How To Access Narcos From Abroad?

If you would like to access the series from outside US then you must change your IP address before visiting the Netflix website or firing up the Netflix app. Since the whole concept of geo blocking works on the basis of IP addresses, you would be able to beat Netflix filters by switching to an American IP. While this sound technical and complicated, it is easy to unblock Netflix from anywhere by subscribing to a VPN or SmartDNS service. Here are the simple steps that you need to follow in order to watch the show from anywhere:

Step 1) Browse through the sites of reputed VPN or SmartDNS service providers and subscribe to a service that allows you to unlock Netflix from anywhere. Here are some top notch services that will do the trick:

Step 2) Follow the instructions to set up the service on your preferred device (computer or mobile). A lot of service providers offer installable VPN clients for computers but mobile devices often need manual configuration. The process is easy though and can be completed within 5 minutes.

Step 3) Save all the changes and restart the computer (or the Netflix app) as advised by your service provider.

Step 4) Once the configuration/installation is done, it is time to start the VPN (or SmartDNS) service. Click on the VPN desktop icon or navigate to the Network Connections area to initiate a connection with the VPN server.

Step 5) If the connection is successful, you are ready to unlock Netflix (provided your new IP is from US). A lot of VPN service providers have deployed their main (also known as default) server within US but it could also be located in Europe or Asia. That’s why it is important to test your new IP with an IP checking service. If your new IP is not from within United States, choose a different server that is located within mainland US.

Step 6) Open the default browser (or Netflix app) and navigate to the Narcos link given above. If you can still see the Content Unavailable message, it could be due to old network settings stored on the device. Clear the cookies and close and open the Netflix app to flush them to enjoy Narcos (and other Netflix shows/movies) from any location in the world.
