PrivacyPro is brought to you by My Privacy Tools, Inc. which is a San Diego, US based company. Established in 2006, the company offers several privacy products including HideMyIP software, which allows users to change their IP address and browse the internet with total privacy and anonymity. In this PrivacyPro Review, we will review all the features of HideMyIP application and decide if it is worth buying.

Server Locations and Site Access

PrivacyPro offers its service through servers located at 50 different locations in 10 countries. The service allows you to hide behind 3500+ IP addresses and choose an IP address from one of the following countries – United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Netherlands, Germany, France, Italy, Malaysia and Singapore. Although the choice of locations is not as extensive as offered by other VPN providers, the service would allow you to unlock GEO-IP restricted sites from above 10 countries as well as bypass firewalls imposed by ISPs and network administrators. Once you activate your account, you would be able to unlock sites like Google, Netflix, Facebook, Hulu, Netflix, YouTube, Skype, Gmail, CTV, CBC, CBS, E!, Pandora, BBC iPlayer, NBC, iTV Player, ABC iView, Fox, HBO, Eurosport, Deezer, RTL, Rara, Spotify, Zattoo, Mio TV, NFL, MLB, Amazon Prime, Xfinity, Vudu, 4OD and Demand 5 from any location in the world. In addition, since HideMyIP allows you to choose an IP address from the country of your choice, it is possible to unlock premium content from several different countries by subscribing just once.

VPN Speed and Bandwidth

PrivacyPro does not impose any kind of speed or bandwidth limitations on its premium and gold subscribers. Due to lack of speed and bandwidth restrictions, the service is well-suited for streaming HD content, downloading, VOIP and online gaming.

Privacy Settings

HideMyIP software shields your online activities with 128 bit encryption. It is worthwhile to note that the ability to encrypt traffic is available only to premium and gold subscribers. For free trial users, the service merely acts as a proxy service and does not offer full protection against surveillance and hacking attempts.

The premium version of HideMyIP software works with hundreds of programs and protects all kinds of online activities including browsing, FTP, VOIP, messaging and emailing from monitoring and snooping. The software even offers hotspot protection to safeguard wireless sessions at coffee shops, hotels, airports and shopping malls.

Although PrivacyPro does not keep traffic logs, it will fully co-operate with law enforcement agencies in case a user is found to be involved in illegal activities. In addition, the company records connection details to prevent abuse and provide a better service to its customers.

Supported Operating Systems

HideMyIP works with Windows (7, XP, Vista) and Mac OS X (10.5+). The software is easy to install and does not require any additional configuration. The application contains several advanced features such as ability to change IP address after every few minutes, choose a fixed IP address every time, get an IP address from a desired location, ability to launch at startup and even clear cookies before getting a new IP address.

Customer Support

PrivacyPro offers support through email, toll free number, live chat, forum and an extensive knowledgebase section. Before contacting the support staff, it is advisable to browse through the forum and knowledgebase section since solutions to a lot of common VPN problems are already available there.

Pricing Options

PrivacyPro has a complicated payment structure. Although the software is available for a one-time fee of $29.95, you need to subscribe to premium ($8.95 per month, $24.95 for 3 months, 84.95 for a year) or gold plan ($24.95 per month, $74.85 for 3 months and $249.45 for one year) in order to get access to all servers and encryption options. The company’s marketing strategy is somewhat deceptive as the full range of subscription options are never revealed to the customers until they have downloaded the 14 day free trial. As noted earlier, the trial is somewhat restrictive and does not allow you to test the encryption features that come with the service. Finally, even though the company offers a 30 day money back guarantee, you need to claim the refund within 24 hours of the purchase in case you activate the software immediately after buying it.

Final Verdict

On the whole, PrivacyPro does not deliver on most parameters. The solution provides minimum level of encryption at a very high price plus the service does not work with all platforms and devices. Considering the cost and deceptive marketing practices adopted by the company, we recommend that you invest your money elsewhere. For more information, please visit: www.privacy-pro.com.
