Under the Dome is a science fiction and mystery series that made its television debut in June’ 2013. The series is based on a novel by Stephen King and was developed by Brian K. Vaughan for the CBS channel. Under the Dome has garnered an extremely positive response from the critics as well as audience (IMDB rating of 7.2 and Metacritic score of 72) and the series was even nominated for Critics’ Choice award for Most Exciting New Series. The series has already been renewed for a second season which will premiere in summer 2014.

Under the Dome Storyline And Plot

The series is based on “Under the Dome” novel by Stephen King. The story of the show is focused around the residents of Chester’s Mill, Maine who are suddenly cut-off from the rest of the world by the appearance of a massive, transparent dome which engulfs their town. When the government’s efforts to destroy the dome prove unsuccessful, the people trapped inside must find a way to survive with depleting resources, limited means of communication and rising interpersonal tensions.

Under the Dome Availability

Under the Dome is telecast on Monday nights on the CBS channel. The series is also available online to US residents through the official CBS portal (cbs.com/shows/under-the-dome) and Amazon Instant Video. Fans of the series, including US expats and frequent fliers, would come across the message “The video you have requested is not available for your geographic region” whenever they try to watch the show’s episodes online from overseas.

Why CBS Blocks Access To Under the Dome

CBS has tied up with several content providers to distribute Under the Dome series outside US (Channel 5 in UK, Global TV in Canada, RTE Two in Ireland and Network Ten in Australia). Due to the content sharing agreements signed between the channel and its partners, CBS is forbidden to broadcast the show outside United States. To enforce these agreements online, CBS has to check the location of the viewers trying to access the series online and only allow US visitors (viewers with a US IP address) to watch the latest episodes.

Since CBS comes to know about your location through your IP address, you need to change it and get a US IP if you want to unlock Under the Dome series from abroad. Both proxies and VPNs can help you to get a US IP address but only VPNs can provide high speeds and guaranteed privacy required to unlock streaming services such as CBS from anywhere.

How To Unblock Under the Dome From Outside of USA With A VPN

Step 1: Get a US VPN plan from a reliable vendor like PureVPN, ExpressVPN, HideMyAss, VyprVPN or StrongVPN. These service providers are highly renowned for their VPN services and provide IP addresses from multiple US cities.

Step 2: The next step is to configure the service on your favorite device. If you want to set up the service on a computer, check whether your vendor offers a custom client for your computer’s operating system. However, if you need to use the service on a mobile device then you must configure the service manually.

Step 3: Save the new connection details and reboot the system if required. In case of mobile devices, it is also essential to restart the CBS app so that it can use the newly configured VPN connection for connecting to the CBS website.

Step 4: Click on the VPN connection name in the start menu to start the service. Since the time required to connect to the VPN server depends on internet speed and distance of the server from your location, you may have to wait for some time before the service is able to establish the connection.

Step 5: Verify that you have a US IP address by visiting an IP checking website. In case your IP is still not from US then visit the server list section of your provider’s website and choose a US based server located closest to your current location as your VPN server.

Step 6: Visit the Under the Dome page on the CBS website through the browser or the CBS app and click on the latest episode names in order to unlock them. If you cannot access the episodes through your mobile device then remember to close and restart the CBS app after you have switched to a US IP address. Congratulations, you have succeeded in unlocking Under the Dome episodes from all the locations in the world.
