The Middle is a sitcom TV series that airs on the ABC channel. The series made its debut in September’ 2009 and was created by DeAnn Heline and Eileen Heisler (who earlier produced the hit series How I Met Your Mother). The Middle has received an excellent response from the viewers (IMDB rating of 7) and the series has even won Young Artist, Gracie and Critics’ Choice awards for its past seasons. Due to the unbroken popularity of the show, ABC renewed the series for a fifth season which debuted in September’ 2013.

The Middle Plot And Storyline

The Middle revolves around the Hecks, a working-class family of five residing in the fictional town of Orson, Indiana. Mike Heck (Neil Flynn) is the patriarch of the family who manages a quarry for a living while his wife Frances Heck (Patricia Heaton) is a salesperson at a local used-car dealership. The couple has three children – Axl, a cynical teenager who lacks motivation; daughter Sue, a socially awkward but enthusiastic teenager; and the youngest son Brick, an intelligent but introvert kid with his own set of quirks and behavioral problems. The show focuses on the daily struggles of the Heck family members as they try to lead their normal lives.

The Middle Broadcast Schedule And Availability

The Middle is telecast on Wednesday nights at 8 P.M. on the ABC channel. The latest episodes of the show can also be viewed online by visiting the official page of the series on the ABC portal (abc.go.com/shows/the-middle). Due to licensing restrictions, the online episodes of the series are available only to those viewers who access the ABC website from US territories. When US expats and frequent fliers try to access the show online from an overseas location, they come across the error message – “You appear to be outside the United States or its territories. Due to international rights agreements, we only offer this video to viewers located within the United States and its territories”.

How ABC Blocks Access To The Middle Online?

ABC has tied up with many international content providers to distribute The Middle TV series outside US (Sky1 in UK, TV3 in Ireland, Nine Network in Australia and TV2 in New Zealand). Due to the content distribution deals signed between ABC and its partners, the channel is barred from broadcasting the show outside America. The agreements are even applicable for the online version of the show and ABC needs to block visitors with non-US IP addresses to enforce the restrictions online.

If you are interested in watching the full episodes of The Middle from any location in the world then you must change your default IP address and switch to a US IP. This can be achieved by using an IP changing solution such as a proxy or a VPN. While proxies are considered more user friendly, VPNs deliver higher speeds as well as unbreachable security so they are ideal for unlocking streaming TV shows and movies online.

How To Unlock The Middle From Overseas With A VPN

Step 1: Subscribe to a VPN service that offers US based IP addresses. To unblock the episodes of The Middle, we highly recommend signing up with IPVanish, SwitchVPN, PureVPN, CactusVPN or LeafyVPN. These companies are well-known in the market for their US VPN service and are able to deliver unmatched speeds and privacy through their network.

Step 2: Configure the service on a device of your choice (computer, mobile device or router) by creating a new VPN connection. For Windows or Mac based computers, it is often possible to setup the service through a custom VPN tool but for other devices you must configure the service manually.

Step 3: Save the VPN Connection parameters and reboot your system. For Smartphones and tablets, it is also essential to stop and restart the ABC Player app so that it can connect to the ABC portal by using the latest connection settings.

Step 4: The next step involves testing of the newly created VPN connection. Click on the desktop icon of the connection or tap the Connect option available next to the Connection name on your mobile device to start using the service.

Step 5: After the connection is successfully established, check the location of your newly assigned IP address. This step is not needed if you configured the connection manually but if you used a custom VPN tool to setup the service, you need to ensure that you have a US IP address before you visit the ABC website. If the service assigns a non-US IP address to you, browse through the list of available VPN servers and choose a US server located nearest to your current location as your VPN server to get a US IP address.

Step 6: Visit the ABC Portal again and click on The Middle episode names in order to unlock them. If you wish to unblock the episodes on your Smartphone or tablet, just close and restart the ABC Player after you have switched to a US IP address. Congratulations, you are now free to watch full episodes of The Middle from any country in the world.
